A recommended activation approach
For a product launch, consider an appointment-led demonstration with a separate walk-up explanation. For a consumer activation, prototype the time each participant spends with the brand before estimating capacity. Plan storage and replenishment alongside the public footprint so boxes and production equipment do not become part of the queue.
Production questions to resolve early
Build a site-specific load-in and strike schedule, identify who controls the entry and confirm where staff can direct waiting visitors. A proposed plaza or sidewalk concept should not be presented as a secured location. Keep a private-venue alternative in the brief until permissions are confirmed.
Location & permission checkpoint
New York City states that promotional or commercial activity on a city street, sidewalk or curb lane requires a Street Event permit, while pedestrian-plaza activity requires a Plaza Event permit. NYC Street Activity Permit Office guidance
Requirements can change and depend on the exact site and activity. Confirm current rules with the responsible authority. This is planning guidance, not legal advice or permit approval.
